While Messiah sets standards for excellence in Division III intercollegiate athletic programs, we also encourage development of the whole person through sports. At Messiah, principles of sportsmanship and fair play take precedence over the results of athletic contests. The physical and psychological well-being of each participant is affirmed in the context of team camaraderie. This means that person, character and faith development are of great importance to the coaches. Messiah University is committed to maintaining a strong program of intercollegiate athletics marked by excellence and spiritual values.
Messiah's Sports Ministry, AROMA (A Revolution of Missional Athletes) aims to transform lives and spread the gospel through the universal language of sports. Learn more at gomessiah.com/aroma or watch this video!

Messiah offers a recreational sports program, known on campus as rec sports. Included in the rec sports program are sports such as basketball, softball, soccer, flag football, floor hockey, volleyball and kickball, to name a few. Teams play within their division with the top teams then moving to a playoff round. The rec sports champion for each sport receives a free T-shirt, a hot commodity on campus. Check out the rec sports page and see what’s happening on campus!
