Kerry Harker-Roth teaches viola and string methods (undergraduate and graduate). She currently is assistant principal viola of the York Symphony Orchestra and performs in the Harrisburg/York area. She has also performed with various orchestras in the North Texas area and was principal violist for the Finger Lakes Symphony and Rochester Women's Philharmonic in Western New York. Kerry currently maintains a large private studio of viola and violin students, both Suzuki and traditional of all ages. Kerry has a background of 10 years as a public school orchestra director in Texas and New York. Her orchestras in Texas received top honors in Texas State orchestra competitions (UIL) as well as other competitions. Her orchestras in New York received "gold with distinction" ratings in the NYSSMA orchestra festivals. In Pennsylvania, Kerry has been guest conductor for elementary and middle school PMEA festivals and has also worked with local school districts as guest string specialist, clinician and festival conductor. Her specialty is elementary and middle school string groups. Kerry holds a BMUS in viola performance and music education from Houghton College and a MA from the Eastman School of Music in music education and string pedagogy. Kerry lives in Grantham, PA with her husband and two children.
