Centennial Celebrations: Homecoming Weekend

Welcome back, alumni! The Centennial Homecoming will provide alumni, students, and the entire campus community with many new, exciting activities designed to celebrate Messiah’s first 100 years of “shared faith, bold vision, and enduring promise.” In addition to traditional Homecoming favorites — including class reunions, Powderpuff football, the Falcon Fun Run, canoeing on the Yellow Breeches, Messiah soccer, the FalconFest Tailgate, and Alumni Coffeehouse — the Centennial Homecoming offers many new events and opportunities to connect with old (and new) friends, enjoy the campus, show your school spirit, and to remember the special season of life you experienced at Messiah College!

 

NEW for Centennial Homecoming:
• Homecoming Kick-off Events on October 16: An Evening of Comedy with
Jeff Allen, The Centennial Play, Centennial Art Exhibit and
Reception.

• “Connection” receptions for alumni and faculty by academic schools and
departments: This new event makes it easy for alumni to find and connect with
fellow alums and current and retired faculty from a broad range of academic
backgrounds in one central location, and to visit in a casual atmosphere over light
refreshments.

• A Homecoming “Mainstage” that will feature live music, theatre, entertainment
for children, and other special events throughout the day — beginning with
Homecoming opening ceremonies with President Kim S. Phipps and the closing
of the Messiah College Centennial Time Capsule.

• “Sharing a Multicultural Century:” a powerful, moving exhibition and presentation
— based on personal interviews and archival research — to help the campus
and extended community to better understand the history and stories of Messiah
College’s alumni of color. Followed by an open reception hosted by the Office of
Multicultural Programs.

• A “Celebration of Alumni Athletes” and other special athletics events that will
commemorate the heritage of excellence and Christian character of Messiah College
Athletics across all men’s and women’s sports.
