Transforming Lives
Hear directly from students about how entrepreneurial opportunities at Messiah shaped their lives and paved the way for successful business endeavors.
“Through being immersed in entrepreneurship at Messiah, I have been challenged and encouraged in pursuing entrepreneurial ventures and the process behind them. The Impact Venture Challenge competition is such a unique opportunity that grew my own personal experience in realizing what it takes to go through the process of creating a business venture from scratch and using creativity, passion and hard work to reach a final vision and impact the world around us. The unique, hands-on experience Messiah offers, as well as the amazing professors who intentionally care about their students' lives and success in and out of the classroom, have been a deep encouragement for me to develop my own passions and discover what I desire to pursue as my career begins.”
“Studying entrepreneurship at Messiah provided me with lots of tools to critically evaluate the businesses I applied to work for. The knowledge I gained and the hands-on experience I received, particularly through the Impact Venture Challenge, has given me a level of credibility in the business field that employers recognize and value. Lots and lots of companies are looking for candidates with an "entrepreneurial spirit," and my time spent studying entrepreneurship and putting those principles into practice at Messiah make me a strong candidate wherever I apply.”
“Messiah entrepreneurship has given me the opportunity to explore the creative business world with a Christ-centered focus and has helped push me out of my comfort zone. I was able to travel to California for a week-long business event where I met young entrepreneurs from around the world. I competed in the Impact Venture Challenge where I was able to explore my business and social impact passions through creating my own company. The professors and classes make this program so special and have helped prepare me to become the best business professional I can be.”
"I was challenged by real examples of individuals blessing their neighbors, and how that outpouring was inspiring innovation and creating livelihoods. Even more spectacular was the ability of these entrepreneurs to share Jesus through the quality of their products and services."
“To me, entrepreneurship is about creating strategic opportunities to advance God’s kingdom on Earth as in heaven. It’s about using our God-given gifts to create new opportunities make the world more like God designed it to be. When we create businesses, we create opportunities for humans to flourish and realize their innate potential as image-bearers.”
“This is the day which the Lord as made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118 highlights the fact that we need to rejoice in every new day that is given to us. In a similar fashion, the entrepreneurship program at Messiah has helped me develop a lens to look at every obstacle as an opportunity and rejoice.”
"Entrepreneurship is the heart of business in my opinion, and I loved all of my entrepreneurship-related classes at Messiah. I think they were some of the most impactful courses I took at Messiah. As I start my career in a start-up, I can see myself applying the things that I have learned. It makes my degree in entrepreneurship worth it."
“My entrepreneurial spirit was ignited at Messiah University. The administration gave me the creative freedom to explore my ideas for a better future, and the faculty and alumni joined me in the trenches to bring those ideas to life. Messiah offers a generous, values-based environment from which any driven individual can launch their idea.”
"I am extremely thankful for Messiah and the Department of Business for giving me the tools to bring my entrepreneurial ideas to life. In my global entrepreneurship class with Peter Greer, I was able to create and put my business model into action in the country of Albania! After my time at Chick-Fil-A, I hope to officially start an after school program for children in Albania."
