Explore: A Conversation about the Bible
Sponsored by Theta Alpha Kappa (TAK) and the Program in Peace and Conflict Studies Twice a year we recite Messiah University’s Confession of Faith—a valuable and powerful community tradition. But do we really know what we are confessing when we repeat those significant words?
Explore: A Conversation about . . . .seeks to explore Messiah’s confession of faith topic by topic in ways that will make it even more meaningful to us. We will begin with the statement on the Bible! This conversation is part of a new series (“A Conversation about . . .”) that seeks to explore various viewpoints on the Bible and theology in ways that help us understand each other in our quest to know and love God. Our hope is that understanding our theological similarities and differences will motivate us to treat others graciously and hospitably, with respect and appreciation, so we may live according the command of Jesus to love God and to love others. For, as Jesus says, “by this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (Jn. 13:35). We warmly invite you to attend a panel discussion featuring students from Messiah University’s Department of Biblical, Religious, and Philosophical Studies. So, please join us for a conversation around Messiah University’s Confession of Faith as we explore various views about the nature and function of Scripture. Messiah’s Confession of Faith on the Bible: “God gives us the Bible as the inspired, trustworthy and authoritative Scripture to reveal God's ways and purposes, to nourish our minds and souls and to instruct us in how we ought to think and to live.” Moderator: Kevin Villegas Panelists: Matt Jenkins, Sammi Sylvester, Brithney Gonzalez Bent When: January 27, 2022 at 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm Where: Frey 110
