Aimee West Cardoso ’13 was a bright, vibrant Texan, who came to Messiah University as a competitive swimmer and passionate, young artist. In every stroke of her brush, Aimee demonstrated her talent, her beautiful soul, and her love of Christ. As a gifted athletic competitor, Aimee used her talents in the studio to create works of art which consistently pointed her audience to the beauty and complexity of God’s Created order. Her last body of paintings dealt with the subject of God’s tearing of the temple veil, signifying that Christ’s final and complete work on the cross was finished. “And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split.” – Matthew 27:51. Though Aimee was tragically taken from her family, friends and this world far too soon, she has left us with an indelible legacy.
