The flexibility and convenience of online learning
Messiah's graduate programs provide flexibility and convenience, with the majority of the courses being completed online. During your online courses, you'll connect with professors and classmates via webcams, discussion forums, and communicate both synchronously (live) and asynchronously (on your own schedule) during each course. Class sizes are kept intentionally small, creating an intimate and quality learning experience. Technology is a useful tool in distance education, but our dedicated, excellent faculty makes learning personable and enjoyable. Course objectives, assignments and assessments are essentially the same for our online and on campus courses; the primary difference being where you hold your class discussions and where you submit your assignments.
Faculty members use Canvas as a learning management system (LMS) to deliver online graduate courses. Courses and coursework can be delivered asynchronously (on your own schedule) and/or synchronously (live). The course's learning management system provides learning spaces for each course that allows faculty and students to collaborate asynchronously through forums, blogs, email, and wiki tools. It also provides the ability for faculty and students to communicate synchronously through a chat tool, real-time audio, video, shared whiteboard and desktop sharing. Watch a video about Canvas or review this website for additional information.
By offering online courses, Messiah College helps to make your education more affordable by eliminating vehicle and travel expenses, lodging, child care, and other costs that might be incurred by students in a residential program.
