Accounting Services
1. The Accounting Office facilitates recording and analysis of financial transactions
2. Fiscal Year- Messiah University's fiscal year runs July 1 - June 30
3. Financial transactions in the month are provided to the Accounting Office and needed by the 10th business day of the month
4. FOAPAL: Fund, Organization, Account, Program, Location. The FOAPAL in Banner is the basic set up in Banner that allows the Accounting Office to track all financial data and build reports that assist with the analysis of Messiah's financial activity.
FUND: A "silo" of money that can't be combined with other funds. It is arranged in a Hierarchy.
ORGANIZATION: a department. Also referred to as an "ORG"
ACCOUNT: a 4 digit number that groups related data.
PROGRAM: We are required to report our operating expenses by functional categories (programs).
ACTIVITY: This is another way for users to track data within accounts. Certin orgs across campus have been assigned activity codes.
LOCATION: This data segment is used to track revenue and expenses by geographic area.
