Become a nurse aide with Messiah University’s nurse aide training program

Take your first step to becoming a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) in the state of Pennsylvania

Students who complete Messiah University’s nurse aide training program will receive a completion certificate and are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) written exam and skills test. Nurse aides who pass this state exam receive certification as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and are added to Pennsylvania’s nurse aide registry, which employers use to confirm that you meet the federal and state requirements to practice as a CNA.

What will Messiah’s nurse aide training program prepare me to do?

Our nurse aide training program provides comprehensive, hands-on education that prepares you for a successful career as a nurse aide. Through a combination of expert-led instruction, clinical experience, and skill-building exercises, our program empowers you with the knowledge and confidence needed to excel in patient and resident care and beyond.

Messiah University’s program is taught at Messiah Lifeways in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, a leading regional provider of a comprehensive network of senior community services and residential living communities.

Tuition benefit for Messiah Lifeways employees and Messiah University students

Messiah Lifeways employees or Messiah University students who successfully complete the Messiah University Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program have the opportunity to receive the $1,600 course tuition paid for them (including competency test fees) if they agree to work for Messiah Lifeways as a nurse aide.

What do nurse aides do?

Nurse aides, also known as nursing assistants or direct care workers, perform various patient care duties under the supervision of a nurse, such as:

  • Render care and assist clients who are unable to care for themselves
  • Measure and record vital signs
  • Assist clients with bathing, dressing, feeding, and other personal care
  • Assist with range of motion exercises
  • Transport clients
  • Ensure client comfort
  • Maintain infection control and safety awareness
