Messiah’s Master of Music Education granted NASM accreditation
Messiah University’s Master of Music Education (MME) program has been granted accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
NASM is the accrediting organization that establishes national standards for graduate degrees and other credentials for music and music-related disciplines and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational and other music-related endeavors.
“Having NASM accreditation is a good indicator of a program’s quality,” said Dr. Rachel Cornacchio, Messiah’s Graduate Program in Music director. “Our Master of Music Education is designed for busy educators and having accreditation is another level of assurance that they are making a sound investment in their music education.”
Messiah’s MME program enhances students’ abilities as teachers through study of past and present trends in music education, effective curriculum development and application of learning benchmarks. The MME program was added in 2021 to the University’s Graduate Program in Music, which also includes an online Master of Music in Conducting and an online Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Conducting.
Messiah University has the largest NASM-accredited graduate program in music in the U.S. and has been successfully educating music conductors and educators online for more than 10 years.
