Good Friday Service

Good Friday marks the death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In this reflective service, led by Campus Ministries Pastors, Worship Community, and featuring Scripture, silence, music, and a powerful percussion and dance piece, we will remember and open up the meaning of the events on that day, and invite worshipers to renewed prayer and dedication. Free journals will be available to help students with mindfulness and attentiveness in the journey of Easter weekend. Tickets required. Campus Ministries credit is available.

The Messiah University Concert Choir and Choral Arts Society will present Handel’s “Messiah.” This oratorio features some of Handel’s most well-known and beloved music and uniquely narrates the story of Christ’s life, death and resurrection. Soloists will include Messiah faculty and guest artists performing with orchestra in this perennial favorite.

Haydn’s “Creation” is a stunning choral orchestral masterwork that portrays the seven days of creation in colorful, dramatic and unique ways. The text of this oratorio includes passages from “Genesis” and paraphrases of the “Psalms” and John Milton’s “Paradise Lost.” The Messiah University Symphony Orchestra and the Messiah University Choirs (Choral Arts, Concert Choir, Men’s and Women’s Ensembles) will combine with student and faculty soloists to present this masterpiece in English, with its familiar story, and exciting choruses.
