Messiah University Christmas Concert 2020

The Messiah University Department of Music is proud to present “Messiah University Christmas Concert 2020!” Please join the dedicated and hard-working students and faculty of the Messiah University Music Department as we celebrate the Christmas Season, featuring our Large Instrumental and Choral Ensembles as well as several of our student Chamber Ensembles. Performances include arrangements of traditional carols and more contemporary works, and we are incredibly proud of the students who worked so hard to bring this performance to life.

The concert will be available as a live Premiere on the University’s YouTube page (https://www.youtube.com/user/messiahcollege) Monday, December 14th at 7pm, and will remain available through the end of the month. Please contact Erik Forst at eforst@messiah.edu if you would like more information!

Messiah University Church Choir Festival

Sunday, February 5, 2023
Hosted by Messiah University’s Department of Music, our Church Choir Festival 2023 will take place on February 5th, 2023 in beautiful Parmer Hall at the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and the Performing Arts. This one-afternoon festival will provide area church choirs with the chance to fellowship together by learning and performing diverse anthems of the Christian faith in a large festival choir conducted by Messiah University music professors and alongside Messiah University’s 45-voice Concert Choir. In addition to choral clinics and performance, the afternoon will also include lifelong-learning classes for singers and directors by professors of theology, hymnology, Christian ministries and music. The cost for participation is $25 per singer which includes all music and an afternoon snack, and all proceeds support Messiah University’s choir outreach tours.

Singers can register individually by email, mail or by calling the music office. Directors can register singers as a group by email or mail via the Church Choir Festival Registration Form. Registration is open.

Messiah University Concert Choir

The Messiah University Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will debut their international tour program "Walking with God: A Musical Pilgrimage on the Camino De Santiago." Journey with us as we perform works by famous Spanish composers from ancient times to the present day, as well as renowned American composers like Moses Hogan, Stephen Paulus, Chick Corea and Elaine Hagenberg. The centerpiece of the program is a movement from Joby Talbot's Path of Miracles. We will perform this program on campus (3/25), at St. Joseph's Mechanicsburg (3/26) and Holy Trinity Lutheran Ephrata (3/27) as well as in Madrid, Salamanca and Santiago de Compostela in May!
