Position Title: Graduate Assistant, Baseball (Part-time)
Department: Athletics Department
Reports To: Baseball head coach
Position Summary: Assists the baseball head coach in operating an intercollegiate athletics program that pursues our complementary goals of athletic excellence and Christian character. The graduate assistant will assist in all facets of the baseball program, including the recruitment of excellent student-athletes, organization and planning of practices, game preparation, administrative duties, scouting, and monitoring academic progress of student-athletes. This is a two year, 20 hours/week, appointment not to exceed 800 hours/year. Commitment runs from approximately August 1st – May 31st each of the two years.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree required; current enrollment in one of the degrees within the graduate program in Higher Education at Messiah University.
Experience Required: college level playing experience required
Skills, Characteristics Required for Position:
- Ability to coach, teach and train student-athlete in skills and strategies specific to baseball to make them as competetive as possible
- Ability to establish appropriate and effective mentoring relationships
- Ablity to cooperate and partner well with others
- Will demonstate a commitment to continued learning/professional development via presentations, workshops, and/or conferences
- Occasional weekend and evening work as the schedule demands
- Christian faith commitment
