Graduate Assistant, Alumni and Parent Engagement (Messiah University campus)

Position Title: Graduate Assistant for Constituent Engagement     

Department:     Office of Alumni and Parent Relations

Reports To:      Director of Alumni and Parent Relations

Position Summary:  Under the supervision of the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, the graduate assistant will perform duties related to all aspects of constituent relations; this includes but not limited to, event planning, project management, marketing and promotion, social media, and event logistics. The graduate assistant will engage in initiatives and programs that promote interest and engagement in alumni and parent programs at Messiah University. This is a two year, 20 hours/week, appointment not to exceed 800 hours/year.  Commitment runs from early August through the end of May each of the two years.

Education Required:  Bachelor's degree required; current enrollment in one of the degrees within the graduate program in Higher Education Leadership at Messiah University.

Experience Required:  Experience working in settings that require significant interaction with people.

Special Working Conditions:  Occasional weekend and evening work as priorities demand.

 

Primary Duties

1.

Assist the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations with marketing efforts for a variety of alumni and parent programs.

2.

Help with the coordination of key on-campus alumni events such as Homecoming (which totals over 65 events), Gym & Pool Night, Mocktails, Alumni Awards Dinner, and miscellaneous receptions.

3.

Assist the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations in new initiatives, such as Reunion in a Box, Calling All Educators, Alumni Owned Business Map, etc.

4.

Develop social media campaigns to highlight alumni events and initiatives.

5.

Develop marketing content for monitor (display) in the Eisenhower Commons.

6.

Assist as needed with miscellaneous office duties such as greeting alumni and parent guests, assembling visiting alumni gift bags, answering phones and managing office email accounts.

7.

Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

8.

Perform other duties as assigned.
