What is IPE?
The World Health Organization defines Interprofessional Education (IPE) as follows:
“When students from two or more professions learn about, from and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes.”
Across the healthcare professions curricula at Messiah University, we believe opportunities to learn in an inter-
disciplinary setting should be created, sought after, and invested in. Understanding the skill set of each healthcare profession, and how interprofessional collaboration improves not only the knowledge base of clinicians, but more importantly patient outcomes, leads us to an active pursuit of IPE in the classroom and clinical experiences.
