7.  Christian Beliefs 

Christian beliefs requirement includes one three-credit course in Christian Theology.

Christian Beliefs Course Objectives

  • Requirement: One three-credit Christian theology course. 
  • Level: 200-300
  • Sequence: Recommended for any semester during the second or third years. 
  • Course Proposal: One course appropriate to the course learning objectives and level designation is proposed by faculty in department with disciplinary expertise in Christian theology, approved by General Education Committee and Curriculum Committee, and reported to the Community of Educators for information and review. 

By the completion of the course students will demonstrate the ability to:

  1. Articulate central beliefs of the historic Christian faith. (Christian Faith)
  2. Recognize Anabaptist, Pietist, and Wesleyan theological emphases, such as compassion, peace, justice, reconciliation, and the importance of personal piety. (Christian Faith)
  3. Recognize that the Christian faith can be articulated in many ways. (Christian Faith)
  4. Examine their theological convictions and spiritual practices. (Christian Faith)
  5. Describe the influence of culture upon the Christian faith and appreciate the insights that various cultures contribute to Christian theology and practice. (Inclusive Excellence)
  6. Practice theological ways of thinking and writing. (Christian Faith)
