9. Intercultural Perspectives

9.1 Intercultural Perspectives – US

Intercultural Perspectives – US includes one three-credit interdisciplinary course or one three-credit domestic cross-cultural course.

  • Requirements: One three-credit interdisciplinary Intercultural Perspectives-US course.
  • Level: 300
  • Sequence: Recommended for any semester during the third or fourth year.
  • Course Proposal: One course appropriate to the course learning objectives and level designation is proposed by faculty with expertise in cultural intelligence, approved by General Education Committee and Curriculum Committee, and reported to the Community of Educators for information and review. 

Intercultural Perspectives-US Course Objectives

By the completion of the course students will demonstrate the ability to:

  1. Examine contemporary society from diverse viewpoints, ask questions about cultures, and articulate answers that reflect multiple cultural perspectives. (Inclusive Excellence)
  2. Articulate ways Christian faith informs engagement with diverse cultures and perspectives and the value of diversity for effective and holistic decision making. (Christian Faith)
  3. Articulate how social systems operate, succeed, and fail. (Ethics and Civic Responsibility)
  4. Describe the role of the individual within various public/civic society and articulate one’s own civic identity and commitment to promote the common good and community. (Ethics and Civic Responsibility)
