Marketing and Communications photography

The Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) at Messiah University recognizes photography as an essential tool for showcasing the vibrancy of campus life, engaging prospective students, and strengthening connections with the broader community. High-quality images are vital in conveying the university's unique story across various important platforms, including print, web and social media. We strive to ensure that our photography consistently reflects the dynamic and diverse nature of the Messiah University experience.

OMC photography resources

The Office of Marketing and Communications relies on a combination of professional photographers, work-study students, campus student photographers and staff to meet its own diverse photography needs required to produce compelling student recruitment marketing communications, as well as editorial-specific photography for the Bridge alumni magazine and the other institutional marketing communications it produces.

Campus photography services provided by OMC

OMC remains committed to supporting the campus community by offering the following photography services:

  1. Employee headshots and group photos: OMC provides professional headshots and group photos of faculty and staff free of charge for use in campus communications. These sessions are scheduled at various times throughout the year, with advance notice provided through the Intercom and mass email.
  2. Image library access: Employees of campus departments/offices have free access to OMC's professional and student photography image library, named AIR, to utilize in their own university-related communications. This resource can be accessed via the “AIR photo library” card in FalconLink. Contact Becca Powell at bpowell@messiah.edu for more information.
  3. Photography coverage for annual campus events: OMC coordinates photography coverage with various campus offices for several annual milestone events in the life of the university such as Welcome Week, Homecoming and Commencement, and makes those photos available for campus use in the AIR campus photo library.
  4. Campuswide photoshoots: OMC hires professional photographers to capture academic and student life to support prospective student marketing and makes those photos available for campus use in the AIR campus photo library.

Other campus photography requests

Marketing and Communications is not resourced to fulfill general photography requests from individual campus departments or offices for their specific programs or events. As such, OMC focuses its resources on requests from:
  • Enrollment Management (undergraduate and graduate)
  • The Office of the President
  • Advancement division partners in Alumni and Parent Relations and Development
  • Other life-of-the-university events, on a case-by-case basis (i.e., if those requests coincide with a current photography need of OMC)
For all other requests, departments/offices may coordinate photography for their specific needs/events directly with a student or professional photographer and cover the associated costs. For a list of photographers who have previously worked successfully with the university, please contact photography@messiah.edu.
